Dewey the Raindrop!

Gail from Des Moines Waterworks came to talk to our class about water! It was a great time. The kids learned about where our water goes and how they clean our water. She did a puppet presentation to teach the kids the different places that our water travels! It was a very good learning experience. The kids really loved it!

Math: The Addition Symbol

We've been talking about addition in our room. I introduced this whole group today. I sent home the mat for you to use at home. The kids had a lot of fun with this and I felt it was very easy to differentiate for the kiddos that can do a little more with this skill. They use the mat and put manipulative's on each side and then practiced adding them. They would then put the answer at the end of the problem. Last, I had them write the word problem on the back. This was great practice and they had a lot of fun with it! I sent them home so while your making supper some night they can use noodles or whatever little things you have laying around to work on their adding!

Mystery Reader!

Drena Juel came today to read to us as a mystery reader! If you would like to be a mystery reader please email me. I also make sure that you tell your child not to give you away so that the other kids have to guess :)
