My friends got to share with their writing buddy and other friends in our class what they have been writing about. I'm trying to build confidence in the students so that when they share to the rest of the class they feel comfortable and confident. We made self portraits the first couple days of school. When they made these I told them they now need to think of themselves as writers. Everyone is a writer in this room. We were learning about how we sit next to one another and put our folder in our filing cabinet while the other friend shares. We take turns talking and listening to one another tell our story. We ask questions and give comments to the Friend that is sharing. I was amazed at how well they did with this! Kids love sharing about themselves and they LOVE showing off their work :) This was very rewarding to see!
Being a Teacher changes your life. It changes your life because the minute you walk into that classroom, you're greeted by a room full of little people whose lives will be changed because of you. This blog was made out of a commitment to support and make a difference in the lives of children in my primary classroom.

Shape Collages!
Today we talked about shapes! Found and identified shapes, we sorted shapes and we described attributes of shapes. When we finished we made shap collages! The kids had a lot of fun finding shapes in the magazines! This would be a great activity that you could do at home also!

Big Buddies!
Our 4th Grade friends came to visit us today. Every Friday in the afternoon we will have time to be with our little buddies. They will read to us and we will listen. I'm hoping eventually we will also get to read to them! It was so valuable to hear and see the conversations that were happening. The older kids were not only reading to the Kindergartner's they were also asking them questions while they read! WOW! I was blown away. My kiddos were in awe of these big kids! Be sure to ask them how they liked their buddies!

Then we went through the time tunnel to the one room school house. We learned about how the apples grow and what three things they need to grow. We also learned about the seasons!
We went to see the animals!
We went into the apple sorting building to see how they are sorted. We also went into the large freezer!

Then we came back and we wrote in our journals about our day. I was very impressed with how well the kids listened! They did a great job. Also, they represented Souteast Elementary very proudly! It was a great day in Kindergarten.
